Fingerprint Locks
Are you tired of searching for your door key
when you come home with arms full of groceries. Want to go for a walk or
for a jog and not have to carry a key with you. If the answer is yes, then
a fingerprint lock just might be for you.
How Does a Fingerprint Lock Work?
A fingerprint lock combines a regular lock
cylinder with a digital keypad and fingerprint reading hardware and
software. With most of these locks, you can either punch in a code for
access or use your fingerprint. This is great if you have maid services or
other contractors to let in.
To use the lock, the user must first program
the lock with their fingerprints. The lock will store a record of the
fingerprint and will only open if it recognizes the pattern. Most locks
will store in the neighborhood of 50 different prints. More than enough
for the average family.
How Secure Are Fingerprint Locks?
They are very secure locks. Because of the
uniqueness of the human fingerprint, it is nearly impossible to fool. No
two fingerprints are alike.
Fingerprint locks can also be safer than
conventional locks. Instead of fumbling for keys in the dark, you can
simply place your thumb on the lock and enter your home. It will make it
much quicker to get into your house.
